Our House

We're in year five of a lifetime project to build a house that suits us. Our house is built on permafrost, at the bottom of a pretty valley only a few miles from UAF. We are part of a great neighborhood and always only a shout away from friends. The house itself is fairly typical of Fairbanks cabin construction, with no basic plan, just build as we see fit at the time. We're off the power grid, heat with wood, insulate with straw, and haven't quite decided whether indoor plumbing is just a fad or not. The pictures here are all several years, and many changes have occurred since, but you'll get the general idea.
