Perhaps the most important decisions a student makes in his or her career are where to go to school and what project to pursue as a thesis. Your classmates and mentors during your studies should form the basis of your collaborative networks as a professor. Your thesis project should yield you with a solid publication record upon which you can justify new proposals early in your career. Don't make these decisions lightly.

At the moment I feel I have something to offer to those interested in SAR interferometry (with particular emphasis on soil moisture measurements) and glaciology (with particular emphasis on the relationship between mass balance and climate). Both of these projects require strong programming skills and involve physically demanding field work in some of the most remote and harsh environments on the planet. If you think that we have something to offer each other, I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss your ideas.
